| A marine survey is a detailed written report that describes the dimensions, hull structure, equipment, gear, propulsion machinery, basic layout, and condition of a vessel. This physical and visual examination consists of a thorough inspection of the following: hull, fittings, gear, fresh water lines, fuel lines, raw water hoses, tanks (fuel, water, and waste), thru-hull fittings, batteries, electrical equipment (12 and 110-volt), sinks, faucets, air conditioning units and pumps, steering, vents, blowers, lights and railing, cabin windows, galley equipment, and navigation equipment, and all other machinery and equipment. A marine survey is performed to determine that a vessel is of sea-worthy condition. Included in a marine survey report is a list of damages and recommendations for improvement. This information is used to compile an estimated current market value of a vessel. |
